Boosting Curb Appeal Before Selling Your House

A great way to help your house sell faster and for the highest price to boost your homes curb appeal. People often judge a book by it’s cover so to speak and will often make a decision based solely on what they first see when they look at your house. Here are some great ways that you can have your house looking it’s best to promote buyers interest in your house.

1.     Make your front door pop! Your front door is often the focal point for your house and just by adding a splash of color can clean it up and make it noticeable and desirable. You can also make your house feel more “homey” by adding a wreath.

2.     Install outdoor lighting. By adding a few outdoor lights to your houses walkways, flowerbeds or driveways you can not only boost the curb appeal to your house, but also add a sense of safety and security for prospective buyers. Don’t forget to make sure that any overhead door lights that are already installed in your house are working properly.

3.     Clean up your yard and add a garden. Making sure that your lawn is cut and cleaned up is an easy way to make your whole house look better. If you have a flower bed or bushes make sure those are looking good as well. For those homes without any sort of lawn or flowerbeds, you can add a few flower pots around the entry.

4.     Clean or replace gutters and downspouts. Make sure that your gutters are cleaned out. If they are old with peeling paint, rust spots or other problems you may want to go ahead and replace them.

5.     Give your house an exterior face lift. Make sure your house looks it’s best by pressure washing it or giving it a new paint job. Also make sure that any trim around doors and windows look nice and consider updating the paint or color if the paint is peeling.

These are just a few suggestions on easy ways to get your house looking it’s best. One of the best things you can do is walk around the exterior of your house and look at it as if you were the buyer. Fix or update anything that seems off-putting. Putting in a little time and effort on the exterior of your house can go a long way in attracting buyers.
